2016 The 11th Annual Mum’s Mail Shaken, Not Stirred High Tea

The 11th Annual ‘Shaken, Not Stirred’ Mum’s Mail High Tea in association with The Sunflower Fund took place on 2 September at Durban’s Greyville Convention Centre. The sold out event was a huge success and an amount of almost R215 000 was raised for The Sunflower Fund.

The main purpose of this annual event is to raise funds and awareness for The Sunflower Fund, enabling the fund to recruit more stem cell donors for inclusion on the SA Bone Marrow Registry, in turn giving hope to patients diagnosed with life threatening blood disorders who are in need of a stem cell transplant.

The 650 guests all went above and beyond to dress to the ‘Shaken, Not Stirred’ theme, and the outfits ranged from ladies in tuxedos and little black dresses to wetsuits and golden gowns. Guests enjoyed JC Le Roux bubbly and Original Cocktails on arrival and the shirtless Bond boys certainly stirred things up! There were sweet and savoury finger snacks for breakfast and live entertainment galore - including dancing, singing, comedy and inspirational guest speakers. The ladies were also able to shop up a storm at the wide range of pop up shops selling everything from shoes and jewellery to décor and clothes.

The support from the guests was phenomenal and they all spent generously to buy raffle tickets and surprise envelopes, the proceeds of which all went to The Sunflower Fund. There were seven large raffle prizes and also prizes for the best dressed and most daring outfit. Each guest went home with an amazing goodie bag packed with treats and a booklet full of vouchers.

A big thank you to sponsors Baby City, IBV International Vaults, La Lucia Mall, Marshall Security, Bella Zay, Chateau Gateaux, Lemontree Concepts, The Creativity Lab, Buds in a Ro, Makulu Events, Wired Media, Black Coffee, Blonde Zulu, Steph Stein Photography, Nan West Photography, Ocean Driven Media, Distell, Hirsch’s, Original Cocktails, iNsingizi Game Lodge & Spa and Greyville Convention Centre.

Congratulations on an outstanding event and on the success of raising a substantial amount in aid of The Sunflower Fund. Well done to everyone involved to make it such a great success. By far the most extraordinary and amazing event ever. I will definitely be back to support it next year.
